On April 9, 2012, the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed Wendy Spencer to serve as CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
CNCS is a federal agency that administers AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, the Social Innovation Fund, and other programs. Together these programs engage more than five million Americans in service and volunteering to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement.

Redwood Community HealthCorps® is a full-time national health service program in California’s North Bay. Serving in seven Community Health Centers,14 full-time HealthCorps Members assist patients & community members navigate the healthcare system. Members increase access to preventive health care services & improve care coordination for our patients by offering one-on-one community resource navigation, followup meetings, eligibility screenings, Social Determinants needs assessments & application assistance. Members enhance outreach systems, assist a diverse patient and community population, and forge community partnerships with local health & community nonprofits.
Starting in 2014-15, several Members will focus their service on specialized care coordination for MediCare-enrolled seniors & individuals on federal Disability through the Accountable Care Organization, RCCO, with the goal of reducing hospitalization, reducing cost and improving the self-management of chronic health conditions.
